a modern, native-american-inspired, intimate friendsgiving tablescape

I've been saving these Nate Berkus banded arrow dishes for thanksgiving and I finally got to use them!  I just thought the arrow motif was perfect for the holiday.  the black and white gives it a modern twist.
{click the photos to view available pieces for sale!}

likewise, I did a black and white arrow background for the place cards- which read grateful, peaceful, thankful, and blessed {instead of names}, and on one side of my reversible 'give thanks' banner {see below}.
I used a vintage feather print scarf instead of a runner and antique silver trays as chargers, which I left patina-ed which gave them a more rustic look...

each place setting was a little different.  *most* place settings got a horn handled knife, which we are always collecting so if anyone has any leads...  all got a different feather.

my husband, the chef, cooked a perfect dinner...

...and antler charms, too!

lastly, i recycled the banner i made last year- one side is craft paper and the other side is a different font with my arrow background, which can be viewed here

happy thanksgiving, everyone!  feel free to leave {kind} comments!!

Best Pick EVER!!!

as many of you know, my husband and I go picking every single saturday morning to hunt for hidden, forgotten, and buried treasures...
when we're lucky we find killer deals and can pass on the savings on my website and this one where everything is under $10.{!}

but this past saturday was the BEST PICK EVER!!!!!
i'm still reeling from the day but i wanted to share our finds with you fellow pickers!

so 1st of all, check out all of the tiffany i scored!!:

...with their original pouches even!!  got them for a song.

she actually felt bad that she didn't have the boxes so she threw in a jewelry box she wanted rid of - it'll make a nice box to put a gift in as it's nice and clean on the inside - and a barrette {i've been needing a barrette like this so it's already 'in use'}!

so, here's the whole lot:

one of my BEST finds of the day- this topiary.  i've actually been wanted this for a very, very long time, my only regret is that he didn't have 2 of them.  it is nice and tall, too- approx. 65"!!
isn't she lovely?

we collect these bamboo folding chairs, they're the chairs we use for extra seating indoors and out and they're also my favorite style of folding chairs... this one was just $5.

we scored some limoges serving pieces- a lucky find for 2 reasons:
1. they match some of our existing limoges pieces
2. we can always use more serving pieces so this is an even better find than, say, finding the plates would have been!
a dollar.
here are the 2 pieces together:
{p.s. that's 22 karat gold on there ;) }

a tuscan fine english bone china 'Happy Anniversary' Cup and Saucer - very specific, but a sweet gift to have on reserve:

i paid a dollar for this platter that also matches some pieces that we already have- i plan to make a cake platter out of it...

...and we got some matching throw-ins!
{a dessert plate and divided bowl}

here are my husband's finds:
a back-up portable amp that he says actually sounds better than the one he already had!

this jig saw that we've both been wanting.  i've read other DIYer's blogs and seen not only where this has really come in handy, but projects that you can't do without one, so i've been wanting him to get one!  no more having to borrow from our neighbor ☺

some other cool vintage tools:

*then*, we got some other throw-ins throughout the day...  this cool vintage enamel colander and ladle are actually pieces that i've been wanting to get for back-ups lately- it's like i willed them and they fell in my lap:

a vintage cabbage patch twin sheet that i'll probably list shortly...

and a my little pony collectors case that a thrift store didn't want!  it's in near mint condition and so cute- just need to decide if i want to keep it as storage {for what though?} or sell it to a real collector...

so good.  i've dubbed it the 'epic pick'.
how was your weekend?- did you have an epic pick day?  a banner weekend?  what did you score?
send pics!

Let Them Eat Cake! party

dear diary, i am so exited.  my sister will finally be here for the 1st time next month and it's her 50th birthday!!  we have lived here going on three years now so it's about time she came- don't you think?

i am starting to compile ideas for her birthday dinner, which my husband and i will be hosting!  what do you think about these ideas / inspirations?:

layering up the china, beautiful pink flowers, and statuettes

pink depression glass holding treats/for serving desserts

sandwiching cookies cakes or macarons and berries or fruit

DIY labels and ribbon via the crafting chicks

marie antoinette cake topper

labels for table and desserts...

cake stand servers, milk glass, pennant banner...

...see a theme starting to develop?  don't even have to plan these things, they always just end up coming together ☺ as i'm reviewing and editing these ideas, i have a lightbulb moment!  wanting to do a 'pink party' was secretly for me {actually, i wanted to do pink and green- so palm beach, but it's my party}...  but my sis' favorite place in the world is paris and she LOVES versaille and provence, basically anything excessive and decadent and provincial- what could be more perfect than a marie antoinette/let them eat cake theme?!!  and i still get my pink- LOTS of it!! ♥
i still even have a crystal parfum bottle in the shape of the eiffel tower that we put at her table at our wedding- that'll tie in all my crystal- perfecto!  {or parfait}.
i will 'modernize' it a bit with a little paris circus influence since our family rode the ferris wheel and the merry-go-rounds together there!!  i LOVE this flag idea!!
and, of course, i'm going to have to add some of newly-painted, very coveted animals- i'll probably swap out giraffes for some pumas or something..., along with fabric flowers on the cake!:

marie never would have frowned upon too many cakes.
more ideas to follow...  xoxo

follow up:  okay so it all worked our beautifully.  at practically the last minute i remembered that i had bought a mini porcelain antique 'marie antoinette' bust that i was planning on giving her anyway- a lovely cake topper!  then, my neighbor dropped off a surprise {he had no idea about any of this}- but he just happens to drop off a pair of flocked damask curtains with chandelier silhouettes on it.  isn't that so marie antoinette?  didn't i tell you everything ends up coming together?
so here is the dessert cart that i put together for her, using one of the curtains as a tablecloth:

have you ever seen anything more beautiful?  these are
cheesecake cupcakes!!
